On the northeast helpline run by the Northeast Support Centre, complaints of assault on people from that region by landlords are common. Some landlords not just demand high rents but also "beat up" tenants at will.

With the Munirka RWA or 'panchayat' backing off for now, people from the northeast may breathe easy but they feel that discrimination can assume many colours and it is certainly not going away so easily.
